Dr. Veronica Alvarez, Director of School and Teacher Programs at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art opens this video, modeling an arts integration approach called visual thinking strategies, for TEAL coaches. Dr. Alvarez asks three simple questions: What do you think is happening? What do you see that makes you say that? What more can you find?, stimulating inquiry and discussion focused on a historical painting. Following this, Mrs. Rita Salazar of Arts in Action Charter School, Boyle Heights, facilitates questions and discussion with her 2nd graders. Watch as Mrs. Salazar integrates visual art with different areas of the curriculum, including English Language Arts and Literacy, while also touching on empathy with the figures in the paintings.
